Host Penalty Policy

At Ventures Away, we foster trust, engagement, and excellence in every interaction between hosts and guests. To ensure a quality experience, we establish this policy to address cancellations and other non-compliance.

1. Key Definitions

For clarity, these terms apply throughout this policy:

1.1. Platform
Ventures Away is the intermediary platform that connects hosts and guests to facilitate short-term property bookings.

1.2. Host
A natural or legal person who lists and offers properties for rent on Ventures Away. Hosts are responsible for:
- Ensuring that properties meet quality standards.
- Providing accurate information about properties.
- Fulfilling confirmed bookings and providing an appropriate experience.

1.3. Guest
A person who makes a reservation through Ventures Away to rent a property on a short-term basis.

1.4. Cancellation
The cancellation of a confirmed reservation by the host or guest before the start date of the stay.

1.5. Penalty
Corrective measure or sanction applied to the host for non-compliance, such as:
- Cancellations.
- False or misleading information about the property.
- Non-compliance with quality standards.

1.6. Extenuating Circumstances
Exceptional and unforeseen situations beyond the reasonable control of the host that may justify the cancellation of a reservation without penalties.

1.7. Force Majeure
Officially recognized extraordinary and unavoidable events that make it impossible to fulfill obligations.

1.8. Monetary Penalties
Financial fines imposed on hosts for non-compliance.

1.9. Search Results Ranking
The position in which an ad appears in the search results of the platform.

1.10. Appeal
The right of the host to challenge an imposed penalty, providing evidence or arguments that justify the cancellation or modification of the penalty.

2. Penalties for Cancellation of Reservations

2.1. Cancellations with More than 7 Days' Notice
- Monetary Penalty: $50 USD.
- -10% reduction in ranking for 30 days.
- Note on the host's profile indicating the cancellation.

2.2. Cancellations with Less than 7 Days' Notice
- Monetary Penalty: $75 USD.
- -20% reduction in ranking for 60 days.
- Suspension of the ad for 7 days.
- Note on the host's profile indicating the cancellation.

2.3. Repeated Cancellations (3 or More in 12 Months)
- Additional Monetary Penalty: $150 USD.
- Evaluation and possible deactivation of the profile.
- Suspension of the advertisement for 30 days.

3. Extenuating Circumstances and Exceptions

3.1. Acceptable Examples
- Medical Emergencies.
- Serious Property Damage.
- Death of a Close Family Member.
- Local Crisis or Natural Disaster.

3.2. Application Process
- Notification to support@venturesaway.com within 48 hours.
- Submission of documentation.
- Evaluation within 7 business days.

4. Force Majeure
Force majeure events do not generate penalties. Examples:
- Global pandemics.
- International crises.

5. Penalties for Other Non-Compliance

5.1. Property in Poor Condition or Different than Advertised
- Penalties from $50 USD to $100 USD.

5.2. Property Rules Not Communicated
- Penalties from warnings to fines of $75 USD.

5.3. Refusal to Resolve Problems During the Stay
- Penalty: $50 USD for each verified incident.

6. Impact on Guests and Compensation
- Ventures Away will relocate the guest or refund in full if no alternative is found.

7. Appeals Procedure
- 7-day period to file an appeal to support@venturesaway.com

8. Automatic Penalty Deduction
- Penalties automatically deducted from outstanding income or billed directly.

9. Ventures Away Responsibility
- Ventures Away acts exclusively as an intermediary and is not responsible for cancellations or non-compliance between hosts and guests.
