Cancellation Policy

Ventures Away is committed to providing transparency and flexibility on its short-term rental platform. Our Cancellation Policy is designed to protect the interests of both hosts and guests. By making a reservation or listing a property on our platform, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Cancellation Policy Options for Hosts
Hosts can choose from three predefined cancellation policies when listing their property. These policies will be visible to guests at the time of booking.
1.1. Flexible
• Free cancellation up to 24 hours before check-in.
• If the guest cancels less than 24 hours in advance, they will be charged the cost of the first night, and the remainder will be refunded.
1.2. Moderate
• Free cancellation up to 5 days before check-in.
• If the guest cancels between 5 days and 24 hours before check-in, 50% of the total cost will be refunded.
• Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are non-refundable.
1.3. Strict
• Free cancellation within the first 48 hours after booking, as long as there are at least 14 days until check-in.
• If the guest cancels at least 7 days before check-in, 50% of the total cost will be refunded.
• Cancellations with less than 7 days notice are non-refundable.
Note: Hosts can also opt for custom policies, subject to review and approval by Ventures Away.
2. Cancellation Procedure for Guests
2.1. How to Cancel a Reservation
• Cancellations must be made through the Ventures Away platform or by direct contact with our customer service.
• Once the cancellation has been processed, the guest will receive a confirmation email.
2.2. Refund Calculation
• The refund amount will be based on the cancellation policy selected by the host.
• If a refund is due, it will be processed within 7-10 business days, depending on the payment method used.
3. Host Cancellations
If a host needs to cancel a confirmed reservation:
• Ventures Away will notify the guest immediately and offer alternative accommodation options in the same area and price range, when possible.
• Hosts who cancel without a valid justification may face penalties, including:
o Temporary or permanent suspension of their account.
o Charging a cancellation fee.
4. Special Cancellation Conditions
4.1. Force Majeure Circumstances
In the event of unforeseen circumstances affecting the reservation (e.g., natural disasters, public health emergencies, government restrictions), Ventures Away will evaluate cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis.
• Guests may receive a full refund.
• Hosts will not be penalized for cancellations related to these circumstances.
4.2. Property Issues
If a guest encounters serious issues with the property (e.g. unsanitary conditions, lack of access, misleading information), they must notify Ventures Away within the first 24 hours of check-in.
• Ventures Away may intervene to provide a partial or full refund, or find alternative accommodations.
5. Penalties for Recurring Cancellations
Ventures Away seeks to ensure trust in its platform. Therefore, recurrent or unjustified cancellations by hosts may result in:
• Reduced visibility of the listing in search results.
• Charging additional cancellation fees.
• Temporary or permanent blocking of the listing or account.
6. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a disagreement between the host and the guest regarding a cancellation:
• Ventures Away will act as an impartial mediator to review the situation.
• Decisions will be based on evidence provided, such as communications within the platform, photos, or relevant records.
• Ventures Away's final decision will be binding.
7. Refunds of Services and Fees
• Service fees: These are non-refundable, except in cases where the cancellation is due to an error or problem attributable to Ventures Away.
• Payments processed by third parties: These may be subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable payment provider.
8. Changes to This Policy
Ventures Away reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. Changes will be posted on the platform at least 30 days in advance of their implementation.
